About Marketora
We research consumer products and publish what we find. We do not sell anything, we do not take payment for coverage, and we do not run a shop.
What Marketora is
Marketora is an independent editorial publication about consumer products. We research categories, compare the leading options, rank them, and explain the reasoning in enough detail that you can disagree with our conclusion and still make a better decision than you would have made otherwise.
We are not a shop. There is no basket on this site, no checkout, and no way to buy anything from us. When you decide to buy something, we send you to the retailer selling it, and our involvement ends there.
What we will not do
Some of these are worth stating plainly, because the affiliate content industry does all of them routinely and readers have learned to expect them.
- We do not invent reviews or testimonials. No quotes from customers who do not exist, no star ratings aggregated from nowhere, no stock photography captioned as a verified buyer.
- We do not use countdown timers, stock counters or purchase notifications. There is no deadline on any recommendation here, nobody else is looking at this page right now, and we have no idea how many units a retailer has left.
- We do not advertise discounts we cannot verify. Prices move constantly and we are not the seller. We link you to the retailer's page so you can see the real price.
- We do not accept payment for a ranking. Brands cannot buy a place on a list, a higher score, or the removal of a criticism. See our editorial policy.
- We do not claim testing we have not done. Our methodology page describes exactly what our research involves and where its limits are.
How we are funded
Marketora earns affiliate commission when a reader follows a link to a retailer and buys something. The reader pays the same price either way. This is the only revenue the site takes, and it is the reason we can publish without a paywall.
That model has an obvious conflict built into it, and pretending otherwise would be the first dishonest thing on this page. Our answer is structural: the people who write our rankings are not compensated based on which product ranks first, and we publish products with no affiliate relationship whenever they are the right answer. The full explanation is on our affiliate disclosure page.
Who we are
Marketora is a small independent editorial team. We publish under the Marketora name rather than individual bylines on most articles, and we name a specific author where that person's expertise is directly relevant to the category.
If you want to talk to us about our methodology, a correction, or anything else, our contact page lists the fastest ways to reach a person.
Corrections
We get things wrong. Specifications change, products are discontinued and revised, and we occasionally misread something. When you tell us, we fix it, and where the correction changes a recommendation we note it at the top of the article rather than quietly editing the text.
Send corrections to editorial@marketora.org.
